Courses
KVRC has been provided with highly qualified instructors for the various trainings. Currently the institution has rolled out for the following vocational courses which started in January 2011.
The management committee has initiated extensive sensitization and community outreach programmes through District Gender and Social Development officers, Community Development Assistant Officers, Community Health Officers, CBOs and the Faith Based organizations.
The results are overwhelming and we anticipate an average enrollment of approximately 20 trainees for each of the seven courses which translates to more than 100 trainees in January 2011. This has necessitated an audit of the Town Campus' infrastructure to assess its preparedness and capacity to meet the associated and emerging needs.
The results of the audit show that the Town campus has a maximum bed capacity of 50 while the toilets and bathrooms are not able to serve this number adequately.
To cope with the situation, the Ministry has accelerated the opening of the sister campus at Nyagacho which is about 1.3 Km away from the Town campus. The Nyagacho campus has been idle since it was constructed and was vandalized before and during the 2007/2008 post election violence. The centre was looted of toilet seats, cisterns, metal grills, water tanks and all that able hands could hold to. The Government has however refurbished the facility, installed electricity and water and is now usable.
The Nyagacho campus has an administrative block, 4 workshops with built-in teacher's offices and stores and 2 classrooms. This facility is intended to host the following courses that have attracted high enrollment.
